Pierre Gasly Confirms Stability at Alpine F1 Amid Leadership and Driver Changes

Pierre Gasly discusses the stability within Alpine F1 team despite recent leadership and driver changes, emphasizing focus on the upcoming races.

Pierre Gasly has recently addressed the media to dispel rumors of turmoil within the Alpine Formula 1 team following a series of leadership and driver changes. Despite the sudden departure of team boss Oliver Oakes and the introduction of new driver Franco Colapinto, Gasly insists that the team's operations remain unaffected.

Leadership Transition

Oliver Oakes stepped down as team boss last week due to personal reasons, shortly after the Miami Grand Prix. Flavio Briatore, a seasoned Italian former principal, has taken over the reins, marking his sixth stint as team boss in five seasons. Gasly, who joined Alpine in 2023, is now working under his fourth team boss.

Driver Lineup Adjustments

Following Oakes' departure, Alpine announced that Australian rookie Jack Doohan would be replaced by Argentine reserve Franco Colapinto for at least five races, starting from the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Imola.

Gasly's Perspective

Gasly shared his experiences from the past week, stating, 'I went to the factory on Tuesday, Wednesday I was working in the simulator, I was with Flavio when all the announcements were made.' He emphasized that despite the significant news, the team's objectives and operations have not changed.

Team Dynamics and Future Outlook

Gasly highlighted the absence of internal conflicts and maintained that the team's vision remains consistent. He also mentioned taking a brief hiatus to play golf in Scotland to relax before the Imola race. Currently, Alpine stands ninth out of ten teams after six Grand Prix and two sprint races.

Gasly remains optimistic about the future, stating, 'Flavio has brought a lot with him... I think the directions are very clear and we'll see some rewards and dividends over the next few weeks and months.' He urged the team to move past this 'special week' and focus on 'business as usual.'
