Las Vegas Grand Prix Secures Future: Extended Through 2027 with Eyes on Long-Term Growth

The Las Vegas Grand Prix has officially extended its partnership with Formula 1 through 2027, with plans for long-term growth and economic impact.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix and Formula 1 have solidified their partnership with a deal that ensures the race will continue through 2027. Both parties are committed to extending this collaboration well beyond the current decade, highlighting the event's growing significance in the world of motorsports.

A Thrilling Debut and Continued Success

The Las Vegas Grand Prix made its debut in 2023 with a three-year agreement, featuring a circuit that includes a long backstraight down the iconic Las Vegas Strip. The race has quickly become a staple in the Formula 1 calendar, with Clark County already planning for events through 2032. Despite the 2026 calendar listing the race, the formal agreement was only confirmed recently.

Economic Impact and Future Plans

Emily Prazer, president of the Las Vegas GP, emphasized the race's evolving nature and long-term intentions. "We've agreed collectively that we're going to do a two-year extension for 2026 and '27," Prazer stated. "We want to make sure that we're continuing to evolve what we're doing. But the intent is a much longer-term arrangement."

The race has transformed one of Las Vegas' traditionally slowest commercial periods into a booming economic opportunity. The 2024 event alone generated $934 million in revenue and raised $45 million in taxes, marking November as the most commercially successful month in the city's history.

Permanent Facilities and Strategic Planning

Formula 1 has invested in a permanent facility in the heart of Las Vegas, the Grand Prix Plaza, which serves as the paddock on race day. This infrastructure underscores the commitment to making the Las Vegas Grand Prix a permanent fixture in the Formula 1 calendar.

Steve Hill, CEO and president of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, expressed confidence in the race's future. "The length of extensions don't really reflect anything other than it just makes sense incrementally, we know what's going to happen over the next couple of years," Hill said. "We're planning on this being a permanent race, we'll just keep planning extensions that will probably expand as we go forward."

Looking Ahead

With the 2025 event scheduled for November 22, the Las Vegas Grand Prix continues to cement its position as a premier event in the Formula 1 season. The race not only brings thrilling action to the track but also significant economic benefits to the city, ensuring its place in the future of motorsports.
