Dayana Yastremska Overcomes Grass Allergy to Reach Nottingham Open Final

Ukrainian tennis star Dayana Yastremska triumphs over grass allergy to reach the Nottingham Open final, marking a historic moment for Ukrainian tennis.

Dayana Yastremska has made history by becoming the first Ukrainian player in 17 years to reach a WTA Tour final on grass, despite her self-proclaimed allergy to the surface. On Saturday, Yastremska secured her spot in the Nottingham Open final with a decisive 6-4, 6-4 victory over Poland's Magda Linette.

Yastremska, who last claimed a WTA title in 2019, is set to face American McCartney Kessler in the final on Sunday. Reflecting on her journey, Yastremska shared, 'I really love playing on grass, even though I think I have a bit of an allergy to grass. I'm very excited, and I was proud of myself. In general, everything worked pretty well. I can't wait to play in the finals tomorrow. Finally, I won't be playing at 11 am, which I've been doing all week, so I can sleep tomorrow a little bit more!'

Kessler, who recently recorded her first career grass-court win, advanced to the final by defeating Rebecca Sramkova 6-4, 6-2. This match marks a significant milestone in Kessler's career as she steps onto the grass court for her first WTA final.

The Nottingham Open final promises to be an exciting clash between two determined players, each with their own unique journey to this pivotal moment in their careers.
