Daniel Lapin: Ukraine's Rising Boxing Star and Usyk's Protégé
Daniel Lapin, Ukraine's next boxing sensation, is set to face Lewis Edmondson at Wembley Stadium. Trained by Oleksandr Usyk, Lapin aims to continue Ukraine's boxing legacy.

Ukraine has a rich history of producing world-class boxing champions, and light heavyweight Daniel Lapin (11-0, 4 KOs) is determined to be the next in line. On July 19, Lapin will step into the ring against undefeated Brit Lewis Edmondson (11-0, 3 KOs) at London's iconic Wembley Stadium. This fight is a significant step up for the 28-year-old, who is gradually emerging from the shadow of his mentor, Oleksandr Usyk.
Lapin, a 6ft 6 southpaw, is confident of securing another victory for Ukraine over Britain. With Usyk's guidance, Lapin has been honing his skills and preparing for this moment. "Yes, there will be two [wins] that evening [for Ukraine]. Sorry, it's sports, nothing personal," he joked.
Training alongside Usyk has been invaluable for Lapin. The two-time undisputed champion's infectious smile and positivity have been a source of motivation. "Honestly, it really fires me up, especially when you're on your very last set, it's hard, and then you look over and see him smiling, and you start smiling too," Lapin shared.
Despite the pressure of following in the footsteps of Ukrainian legends like the Klitschko brothers and Vasily Lomachenko, Lapin remains focused. "No, for me it's pure motivation. Of course, it only motivates me," he said. "It'll be a great honor for me if my name becomes part of Ukrainian boxing history as well as world boxing history."
Facing Edmondson, the British and Commonwealth champion, in front of a hostile crowd will be a stern test. However, Lapin is unfazed. "The fact that he'll have, as you say, the support in London and in the UK, well, that's better for me, it motivates me even more," he stated.
Lapin's ultimate goal is clear: to become an undisputed champion. With Usyk's mentorship and his own dedication, Lapin is well on his way to achieving this dream and cementing his place in boxing history.
