Los Angeles Dodgers Boost Roster with Enrique Hernandez's Return Amid NL West Battle
The Los Angeles Dodgers welcome back Enrique Hernandez from the injured list, strengthening their lineup as they compete fiercely in the NL West.

The Los Angeles Dodgers took a significant step towards full roster recovery by activating Enrique Hernandez from the injured list this Monday. Hernandez, a versatile infielder and outfielder, had been sidelined since July 6 due to left elbow inflammation. His return is timely as the Dodgers are embroiled in a tight race with the San Diego Padres for the lead in the NL West.
Hernandez, 34, made a strong impression during his rehabilitation stint with Triple-A Oklahoma City, boasting a .357 batting average with two doubles and three RBIs over five games. This season, he has participated in 72 games, maintaining a .195 batting average with eight home runs and 22 RBIs.
Manager Dave Roberts expressed optimism about the team's improving health, stating, "We're getting healthier. I appreciate the guys who have been here, grinding through until we get whole, but it's nice looking on the horizon and seeing the guys that we got coming."
Despite Hernandez's return, the Dodgers still await the comeback of several key players, including third baseman Max Muncy, who is expected to return next week during the team's East Coast trip. Other absentees include infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman, infielder Hyeseong Kim, and relievers Michael Kopech, Brusdar Graterol, and Brock Stewart.
In a corresponding roster move, the Dodgers designated Buddy Kennedy for assignment. Kennedy, a 26-year-old infielder, had one hit in 17 at-bats over seven games for the team.
Looking ahead, Blake Snell is set to return from paternity leave in time for his scheduled start on Friday against Arizona. Snell and his wife recently welcomed their second child, and Roberts confirmed that everyone is healthy.
As the Dodgers continue their quest for dominance in the NL West, the return of key players like Hernandez and the imminent return of others could be pivotal in their pursuit of postseason success.
