Caroline Dubois Defends WBC Lightweight Title with Gritty Win Over Bo Mi Re Shin
Caroline Dubois successfully defended her WBC lightweight title with a hard-fought majority decision win over Bo Mi Re Shin at the Royal Albert Hall, showcasing her skill and determination.

Britain's Caroline Dubois faced a tough challenge from Bo Mi Re Shin but emerged victorious with a majority decision to retain her WBC lightweight title at the iconic Royal Albert Hall. The fight, which took place on a night celebrating International Women's Day, was a testament to Dubois' resilience and tactical prowess.
Dubois, 24, demonstrated excellent shot selection and footwork, navigating through her second title defense with precision. The judges scored the bout 98-93 and 98-92 in favor of Dubois, with one judge seeing it as a 95-95 draw.
"It was a very rough and tough fight," Dubois commented post-fight. "Watching her previous bouts, I knew she would come in hard, and she did exactly that. I tried to adapt and fight on the inside, but it's challenging under the bright lights and with the crowd watching."
Dubois secured her world champion status after Katie Taylor vacated the belt. Her first defense against Jessica Camara ended in a technical draw due to a clash of heads, but she remains undefeated in her 12 professional fights. Dubois has set her sights on becoming the undisputed champion by the end of the year.
Shin, who had a three-fight winning streak after a narrow loss to former world champion Delfine Persoon in May 2023, showed determination but couldn't match Dubois' output. Dubois' agility and strategic body shots kept her ahead in the fight, despite Shin's durability and occasional successful strikes.
Looking ahead, Dubois may face WBO lightweight champion Terri Harper, who is set to fight Natalie Zimmerman on May 23. Other potential opponents include Beatriz Ferreira, the IBF champion, and Stephanie Han, the WBA champion.
This victory solidifies Dubois' position as a dominant force in the lightweight division, with her eyes firmly set on unifying the titles and cementing her legacy in women's boxing.
