Romell Glave Claims Victory Over Marcell Jacobs in Thrilling 100m at Paavo Nurmi Games
Romell Glave secures a triumphant win in the 100m sprint at the Paavo Nurmi Games, outpacing Marcell Jacobs and other top athletes.

Romell Glave of Great Britain emerged victorious in the men's 100m final at the prestigious Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland, clocking an impressive 10.08 seconds. This win marks a significant moment for Glave, who described it as a form of redemption following his bronze medal finish at the 2024 European Championships, where he trailed behind Marcell Jacobs.
Glave's performance was a masterclass in focus and strategy. 'After the heats, I felt a bit tight, but I had enough time to warm up and release it,' Glave shared. 'I was able to be patient compared to my last race, just focusing on the first 30 meters.' This tactical approach paid off, allowing him to outpace competitors including Andre de Grasse and Benjamin Azamati, who finished sixth and third respectively.
In other events, Morgan Lake of Britain clinched the women's high jump title on countback after both she and Jamaica's Lamara Distin cleared 1.91 meters. Meanwhile, Slovenia's Kristjan Ceh continued his dominant season with a victory in the discus, throwing 70.61 meters to secure gold.
The track events also saw record-breaking performances. Dylan Beard of the USA set a new meeting record in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 13.16 seconds, while Switzerland's Ditaji Kambundji edged out Poland's Pia Skrzyszowska by just 0.02 seconds in the women's 100m hurdles.
New Zealand's Zoe Hobbs also made headlines by breaking the meeting record in the women's 100m sprint, finishing in 11.07 seconds. The men's 3,000m steeplechase saw Frederik Ruppert of Germany continue his excellent form, winning in 8 minutes 10.39 seconds.
This year's Paavo Nurmi Games not only highlighted the incredible talent in international athletics but also set the stage for future competitions, as athletes like Glave and Lake continue to push the boundaries of their sports.
