Billy Harris Shifts Focus to Doubles After Wimbledon Singles Defeat

Billy Harris reflects on his Wimbledon singles defeat and looks forward to competing in the doubles with Marcus Willis.

Harris Puts Singles Defeat Behind Him

Tennis player Billy Harris expressed his disappointment after being knocked out of the Wimbledon singles competition but is now focusing on the doubles. The 30-year-old lost in the second round to Portugal's Nuno Borges with a score of 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (9-7). Despite the loss, Harris acknowledged his opponent's strong performance.

Reflecting on the Match

Harris mentioned that he had his chances during the match but couldn't capitalize on them. 'I had my chances and I think I missed one passing shot on set-point by an inch,' he said. 'I had a couple more set-points, so you've got to take those kind of chances in these matches, but that's tennis, it's always like that.'

Looking Ahead to Doubles

Harris is now shifting his focus to the doubles competition, where he will partner with fellow British player Marcus Willis. 'Marcus is a great doubles player and if we put a great performance together we can win some matches,' Harris said. The duo will face Kazakhstan's Alexander Bublik and Italy's Flavio Cobolli on Thursday.

Support from the Crowd

Harris also expressed his gratitude for the support he received from the crowd and messages from friends and family on the Isle of Man. 'Big thanks to them and I was just gutted that I couldn't take it further,' he said.

Conclusion

Despite the setback in singles, Harris remains optimistic about his chances in the doubles. With a strong partner and the support of his fans, he is determined to make an impact in the remaining matches at Wimbledon.
