Sunderland Bolsters Squad with Premier League Star Simon Adingra

Sunderland secures a major signing with Simon Adingra from Brighton, marking a significant step in their Premier League comeback.

Sunderland Welcomes Simon Adingra

Sunderland has officially announced the acquisition of winger Simon Adingra from Brighton & Hove Albion. The 23-year-old Ivory Coast international has joined the Black Cats for a transfer fee of £21 million, with additional add-ons, and has committed to a five-year contract at the Stadium of Light.

Adingra's Journey to Sunderland

Adingra initially joined Brighton from FC Nordsjaelland in 2022. He was subsequently loaned to Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for the 2022-23 season. Last season, he made 29 appearances in the Premier League, scoring twice and providing two assists.

Excitement and Ambition

"It's a pleasure to be here, and I cannot wait to get started," Adingra expressed on the club's website. "The club and the project are really exciting. I spoke with everyone, and their interest in me made the decision easy - I wanted to be part of Sunderland's future."

Adingra also shared his enthusiasm about continuing to play in the Premier League, a dream he has harbored since childhood. "It's a big challenge ahead – we'll be facing top players and strong opponents - but I'm ready for it," he added.

A Rising Star

Adingra was instrumental in Ivory Coast's 2023 Africa Cup of Nations victory, providing both assists in the 2-1 win over Nigeria in the final. His performance earned him the title of the tournament's best young player.

Strengthening the Squad

This signing marks Sunderland's sixth acquisition of the summer as they gear up for their first Premier League season since 2016-17. Adingra joins other notable signings such as Enzo le Fee, Habib Diarra, Noah Sadiki, Reinildo Mandava, and Chemsdine Talbi.

Looking Ahead

With Adingra's addition, Sunderland aims to make a strong impact in the Premier League, leveraging his talent and experience to compete against the league's top teams.
