Wyndham Clark Faces Oakmont Ban After US Open Locker Incident
Wyndham Clark banned from Oakmont Country Club following a locker damage incident during the US Open. Learn more about the consequences and his response.

The United States Golf Association (USGA) has remained silent on reports that Wyndham Clark has been banned by Oakmont Country Club. The incident occurred when a century-old locker was damaged during this year's US Open. Clark, who won the US Open in 2023 at Los Angeles Country Club, missed the cut this year. Photos of the damage have surfaced, reportedly caused by Clark at the Pittsburgh course.
According to Golf Digest, Oakmont sent a letter to its members stating: "Following multiple discussions with the USGA and the OCC board, a decision has been made that Mr. Clark will no longer be permitted on OCC property." The letter also mentioned that reinstatement would depend on Clark fulfilling specific conditions, including full repayment for damages, a meaningful contribution to a charity chosen by the board, and the successful completion of counseling or anger management sessions.
Clark, ranked 28th in the world, addressed the incident at last week's Scottish Open, saying, "I made a mistake in a moment of rage with, you know, a bad year and everything coming together. And it was more than anything a good wake-up call for me to say, 'Hey, you know what, let's get back on track and things aren't that bad.'"
He had apologized the week after the incident in June, stating, "I'm very sorry for what happened. But I'd also like to move on, not only for myself but for Oakmont, for the USGA and kind of focus on the rest of this year and things that come up."
The US Open will next be held at Oakmont in 2033, and Clark would still have an exemption into the field through his 2023 victory. This week, Clark will be in action at the Open Championship at Royal Portrush, teeing off at 10:20 BST on Thursday alongside Tom Hoge and Corey Connors.
