Exciting New Features and Strategies for Fantasy Premier League 2025-26 Season
Discover the latest updates and strategies for the Fantasy Premier League 2025-26 season, including new scoring methods and chip usage.

The Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is gearing up for the 2025-26 season with some exciting new features and updates. Here’s a detailed look at what’s in store for fantasy football enthusiasts.
Enhanced Chip Usage
One of the most significant changes this season is the ability to use all four chips twice throughout the campaign. These chips include:
- Bench Boost: Points from all four substitutes count towards the total score for that game week.
- Free Hit: Allows temporary changes to the team for a single game week, resetting the following week.
- Triple Captain: Triples the captain’s score instead of doubling it for a single game week.
- Wildcard: Permits unlimited permanent transfers in a single game week.
Players will be allowed one use of each chip in the first half of the season and another in the second half.
Defensive Bonus Points
Outfield players will now earn bonus points based on their defensive actions. For defenders, clearances, blocks, interceptions, and tackles count as defensive involvements. Midfielders and forwards can earn points for clearances, blocks, interceptions, tackles, and ball recoveries.
- Defenders: Earn 2 bonus points for every 10 defensive actions.
- Midfielders and Forwards: Earn 2 bonus points for every 12 defensive actions.
Impact of New Rules
If these rules had been in place during the 2024-25 season, James Tarkowski of Everton would have been the top-scoring player for defensive involvements with 44 bonus points. Moises Caicedo of Chelsea would have led midfielders with 42 bonus points.
BBC Sport’s FPL League
As in previous years, BBC Sport will host a dedicated FPL league for readers to join and compete. Details on how to join will be announced once the game is fully launched.
