Seventeen-year-old off-spinner Farhan Ahmed, the younger brother of England international Rehan Ahmed, has been signed as a late replacement for Manchester Originals in The Hundred 2025. This marks a significant milestone in Farhan's budding cricket career, showcasing his potential on a major stage.
Key Signings and Replacements
Farhan replaces Marchant de Lange, the Gloucestershire left-arm quick, while the Originals have also secured Mark Chapman, the New Zealand batter, as cover for four games. Chapman steps in while his international teammate Rachin Ravindra is on Black Caps duty.
In other team news, Akeal Hosein, the West Indies spinner, has been signed by Trent Rockets for two games, filling in for George Linde, who is away with South Africa. Additionally, Mohammad Amir, the Pakistan left-armer, will replace Ben Dwarshuis at Northern Superchargers for the entire competition, as the Australian is on international duty.
Women's Competition Updates
The women's competition sees Charli Knott, an uncapped Australian all-rounder, replacing Deepti Sharma at London Spirit for the full competition, which begins on Tuesday.
England Men's Test Players Availability
Organisers have confirmed the availability of several England men's Test players for the competition. Jacob Bethell and Ben Duckett (both Birmingham Phoenix); Liam Dawson, Jamie Overton (London Spirit); Harry Brook, Zak Crawley (Northern Superchargers), and Sam Cook and Joe Root (Trent Rockets) will be available for the duration.
However, Ollie Pope, England's vice-captain, will miss Spirit's first two games, and wicketkeeper Jamie Smith will be absent for their opener against Oval Invincibles on Tuesday. Chris Woakes has been ruled out entirely due to a shoulder injury. The availability of bowlers Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Brydon Carse, and Josh Tongue will be confirmed in due course.
