Liverpool's Jeremie Frimpong Sidelined Until After International Break Due to Hamstring Injury
Liverpool's new right-back Jeremie Frimpong will miss upcoming matches due to a hamstring injury, leaving coach Arne Slot with limited defensive options.

Liverpool's new signing, Jeremie Frimpong, has been ruled out of action until after the international break due to a hamstring injury. The 24-year-old right-back was substituted during his Premier League debut in Liverpool's 4-2 victory over Bournemouth last week. Frimpong will miss crucial league games against Newcastle United and Arsenal, leaving coach Arne Slot with limited options in defense.
Slot revealed that the medical staff advised him to substitute Frimpong during the match, as they suspected a hamstring issue. "I think I got criticized for taking him off, didn't I?" Slot joked during his pre-match news conference. "It had nothing to do with his performance, but we felt he had an issue with his hamstring. It was a good call to take him off."
The first international break of the season runs from September 1 to September 9, with the Premier League resuming on the weekend of September 13-14. Liverpool will face Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday, September 14, and Slot is hopeful that Frimpong will be back in action by then.
Frimpong's injury leaves Liverpool short on options at right-back. The £29.5 million signing from Bayer Leverkusen was brought in to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who joined Real Madrid earlier this year. Northern Ireland defender Conor Bradley has only recently returned to first-team training, while Joe Gomez, who has a history of injuries, is also a potential option. Slot mentioned that Gomez has been training with the team and could be involved in the upcoming match against Newcastle.
Despite the setback, Slot remains optimistic. "Jeremie has a very positive injury record. Conor was out once or twice last season. These things happen," said Slot. "At the moment, we only have two injuries, but unfortunately, it is two in the same position. The good thing is we have other players that can play there, like Wataru Endo and Dominik Szoboszlai."
Liverpool fans will be eagerly awaiting Frimpong's return, as the team looks to maintain their strong start to the Premier League season.
