Sabalenka's Dominance at the US Open: A Masterclass in Tennis Excellence
Aryna Sabalenka showcases her prowess at the US Open, securing a commanding victory and eyeing another Grand Slam title.

Aryna Sabalenka's US Open Journey
Aryna Sabalenka, the reigning US Open champion, began her title defense with a commanding victory over Rebeka Masarova in New York. Despite a shaky start, Sabalenka demonstrated her resilience and skill, ultimately triumphing with a score of 7-5, 6-1.
The Match Breakdown
Sabalenka faced an early challenge when Masarova broke her serve in the fifth game of the first set. However, Sabalenka quickly responded, leveling the score at 3-3. The set remained tightly contested until Sabalenka secured a set point at 6-5. Masarova thought she had saved the point, but Sabalenka's stunning defensive return to Masarova's overhead smash forced a lobbed return, which Sabalenka emphatically sent down the line to claim the first set.
In the second set, Sabalenka's dominance was evident. Masarova, ranked 108th in the world, managed to hold serve only once as Sabalenka raced to victory.
Coaching and Strategy
Sabalenka was supported by Max Mirnyi, a 10-time Grand Slam doubles champion, who has been working with her on improving her net skills. Mirnyi, known as 'the Beast' during his playing career, has been instrumental in refining Sabalenka's game as she aims to end the Grand Slam season on a high note.
"I feel like we improved a couple of things together, and I'm looking forward to working more with this wonderful guy," Sabalenka said. "Hopefully, we can finally improve my volley - maybe one day you will see me coming to the net more often, but for now, it's a work in progress."
Looking Ahead
Sabalenka's next opponent is Polina Kudermetova, who advanced after her opponent, Nuria Parrizas-Diaz, retired due to injury. Sabalenka is aiming to become the first woman since Serena Williams in 2014 to successfully defend the singles title in New York.
This season, Sabalenka has reached at least the semifinals in each of the three Grand Slams, losing the finals of both the French and Australian Open. Despite an unconvincing performance at the Cincinnati Open, where she narrowly defeated Emma Raducanu before losing to Elena Rybakina, Sabalenka's form at the US Open suggests she is a strong contender for the title.
