York City Announces Immediate Departure of Manager Adam Hinshelwood
York City has parted ways with manager Adam Hinshelwood, despite an unbeaten record this season. Assistant Gary Elphick will temporarily take over.

York City have announced the immediate departure of manager Adam Hinshelwood. The 41-year-old, who joined the club in February 2024, has left despite the team's unbeaten record in the National League this season, with three draws and one victory from their four games.
Hinshelwood's final game in charge was Monday's 1-1 draw at Woking. First team coach Cam Morrison will also leave the club, while assistant boss Gary Elphick will take over on a temporary basis. A new manager is expected to be announced in due course.
"We would like to thank Adam for everything he has done for the club since his arrival early last year," said co-chairs Matt and Julie-Anne Uggla. "We wish him nothing but the very best for the future. We look forward to announcing the new manager in due course for this next chapter for the club."
Hinshelwood, who previously managed Worthing from 2017 to 2024, guided York City to safety in his first season and then to second place last season, narrowly missing out on automatic promotion to League Two by six points. He replaced Neal Ardley, who was sacked after a run of four games without a win and just a point above the bottom four.
Despite the team's current unbeaten streak, the club has decided to part ways with Hinshelwood, signaling a new direction for York City. The search for a new manager is now underway, with fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the club's history.
