Antony, 25, joined Manchester United from Ajax in August 2022 for a staggering £81.3 million, making him the club's second-most expensive signing after Paul Pogba. Despite a promising start, his performance waned, and he struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup. His last Premier League start was in a 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in May 2024, and his last league goal came against Burnley the week prior.

During the second half of the 2023-24 season, Antony was loaned to Real Betis, where he rediscovered his form. He scored five goals and provided two assists in 17 La Liga appearances, helping the club secure a European spot. His contributions were pivotal in Betis' journey to the Conference League final, where they were ultimately defeated by Chelsea.

In an interview with TNT Sports Brazil, Antony expressed his happiness at Betis and revealed the difficulties he faced in England, stating, "I found happiness again at Betis. My situation in England affected my family life, and those were very hard days for me."

This permanent move marks a fresh start for Antony, who will look to build on his successful loan spell and continue to make an impact in La Liga. Meanwhile, Manchester United continue their squad overhaul, having already offloaded Marcus Rashford to Barcelona and agreed a £40 million deal for Alejandro Garnacho with Chelsea.
