Dessers' European Ambition: Rangers' Striker Eyes Historic Europa League Run

Cyriel Dessers shares his determination to lead Rangers to a remarkable journey in the Europa League, emphasizing his commitment to the club and their recent success.

Cyriel Dessers, the prolific striker for Rangers, is setting his sights on a historic run in the Europa League. Despite early January speculation about a potential move, Dessers has reaffirmed his commitment to the club, expressing his happiness at remaining at Ibrox.

Dessers' Journey and Form

At the start of the year, Dessers found himself on the fringes of the starting lineup. However, a resurgence in form, marked by a series of crucial goals, has cemented his place in Philippe Clement's side. 'At the beginning of the month I was not playing a lot,' Dessers admitted. 'As a striker on double figures, there is going to be interest. Teams were asking 'is something possible?''

European Aspirations

Dessers, who has netted 18 goals this season, including six in four matches last month, is optimistic about Rangers' prospects in Europe. 'The confidence we get from the European games is huge,' he said. 'So something special is possible.'

Recent Performances

Two of Dessers' recent goals came as a substitute, leading to a run of three starts, including the pivotal win over Union St Galloise that secured Rangers' automatic qualification for the last 16 in the Europa League. Reflecting on their campaign, Dessers noted, 'Against some very good teams, we showed we can compete. I think we had the most difficult programme of everybody in the Europa League and still we got into the top eight. That is a massive achievement.'

Looking Ahead

With the Scottish Cup also in focus, Dessers and his teammates are determined to seize every opportunity. 'We are even more aware that this is a big opportunity,' he emphasized. 'We need to go full and seize the chance.'

Team Spirit

Dessers highlighted the positive atmosphere within the squad, stating, 'I am feeling well at this moment but in the last few games I think the whole team shares this feeling. There are a lot of positive vibes.'

As Rangers continue their quest for glory, Dessers' leadership and goal-scoring prowess will be pivotal in their pursuit of European success.
