Atlanta Drive GC staged a dramatic comeback to beat New York GC 4-3 and claim the inaugural TGL title in Florida. Patrick Cantlay sprinted to celebrate in front of the excited crowd after sealing the win at the 15th and final hole for Atlanta. Billy Horschel, who holed an 18-foot putt on the penultimate hole to put Atlanta ahead for the first time in the match, said, 'This is something different to what we play every week. We want to entertain.' The win means the Atlanta team of Cantlay, Horschel, Justin Thomas and Lucas Glover will split £6.93m in prize money, while New York's Cameron Young, Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler and Matt Fitzpatrick share £3.46m. Atlanta, who won the first match of the best-of-three final on Monday, were 3-0 behind after not winning any of the first 11 holes. They reduced the gap to 3-2 after 13 and then made the penultimate hole worth two points. Horschel's 18-foot downhill putt edged his side ahead. New York dropped the hammer for the final hole but Cantlay's delicate pitch landed within a foot of the hole to seal the win. The innovative indoor tournament was founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, who aimed to take golf 'into the 21st century'.

Two-time major winner Thomas said, 'It's completely exceeded my expectations. The competitiveness, once the play-offs got here, it was not chippy, but it was competitive. We wanted to win.'
