Trump International Golf Links Scotland to Host the Revived Scottish Championship in 2025

The Scottish Championship returns to the DP World Tour, hosted at Trump International Golf Links Scotland in August 2025.

Trump International Golf Links Scotland is set to host the Scottish Championship for the first time from 7-10 August 2025. This marks a significant return of the tournament to the DP World Tour circuit, following its inaugural event in October 2020 at Fairmont St Andrews. The 2025 edition replaces the cancelled Czech Masters, bringing top-tier golf action to Aberdeenshire.

Located in the Menie area, 10 miles north of Aberdeen, Trump International Golf Links Scotland opened in 2012 and has since established itself as one of the premier modern links courses in the UK. The course has previously hosted PGA seniors tournaments in 2023 and 2024, further solidifying its reputation as a world-class venue.

Guy Kinnings, Chief Executive of the DP World Tour, expressed his enthusiasm: "Trump International Golf Links Scotland has already earned a reputation as one of the best modern links courses in the UK. It promises to be an excellent venue for the return of the Scottish Championship."

The tournament boasts a $2.75 million prize fund, attracting some of the biggest names in golf. The event will coincide with the FedEx St Jude Championship on the PGA Tour and the Chicago event in LIV Golf, making it a highlight of the golfing calendar.

Eric Trump, Executive Vice-President of The Trump Organisation, described securing the Scottish Championship as a "significant milestone." This comes amid ongoing discussions about the potential hosting of the 2028 Open Championship at Turnberry, another Trump-owned course.

Since its acquisition by Donald Trump in 2014, Turnberry has undergone £200 million worth of improvements, enhancing its appeal as a major tournament venue. Mark Darbon, Chief Executive of the R&A, has expressed a desire to see the Open return to Turnberry, though logistical challenges remain a consideration.

The Scottish Championship will undoubtedly bring global attention to Trump International Golf Links Scotland, continuing the legacy of high-profile golf events at the venue. The tournament’s return is set to provide thrilling competition and showcase the best of modern links golf.

Previous Winner: Spaniard Adrian Otaegui claimed victory in the inaugural Scottish Championship in 2020.
