British Paralympic medallist Daphne Schrager made a triumphant return to international competition at the Para-cycling Road World Cup in Italy, securing victories in both the time trial and road race in her C2 class. The 24-year-old from Wiltshire, who clinched Britain's first medal at the Paris Games with a silver in the individual pursuit, demonstrated her exceptional form by finishing 12 seconds ahead of her nearest rival in the time trial and more than three minutes clear in the road race.
Schrager's performance was nothing short of spectacular. In the time trial held on Friday, she outpaced her competitors with a commanding lead. By Sunday's road race, she had already established her dominance, breaking away from American Allison Jones on the third of seven laps and maintaining her lead to the finish.
The event also saw impressive performances from other British cyclists. Paris gold medallist Fin Graham claimed victory in the C3 event, with teammate Ben Watson securing third place. Archie Atkinson also emerged victorious in the C4 race. In the women's B time trial, tandem pairs Lizzi Jordan and Danni Khan, along with Amelia Robertson and Corrine Hall, finished second and third respectively.
Matthew Robertson added to the British medal tally with a silver in the C2 road race and a bronze in the time trial. Trike rider Felix Barrow secured second place in the T2 road race, while handcyclists Callum Russell (H4) and Marina Logacheva (H2) finished third in their respective events.
