Brighton Secures Record-Breaking Deal for Rising Star Charalampos Kostoulas
Brighton has finalized a £29.78m deal for 18-year-old forward Charalampos Kostoulas, marking a historic transfer for Greek football.

Brighton & Hove Albion have made a significant move in the transfer market by agreeing to a £29.78m deal with Olympiakos for the promising young forward, Charalampos Kostoulas. This transfer not only highlights Brighton's ambition but also sets a new record for the highest fee ever received by a Greek club.
The Deal Details
The 18-year-old Kostoulas underwent a medical with Brighton on Thursday and is set to sign a five-year contract starting on 1 July. This deal surpasses the previous record held by Wolves' £16.6m signing of Daniel Podence from Olympiakos in 2020. Additionally, if an add-on of £1.7m is met during Kostoulas's tenure at Brighton, it will become the highest fee ever paid for a Greek player, eclipsing the £30.63m Napoli paid Roma for Kostas Manolas in 2019.
Kostoulas's Rising Career
Charalampos Kostoulas, a Greece Under-21 international, made his first-team debut in 2024 after rising through Olympiakos's esteemed academy. He was a key player in Olympiakos's triumphant UEFA Youth League campaign in 2024, where they defeated top European clubs like Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, and AC Milan in the final. Last season, Kostoulas showcased his talent by scoring seven goals in 22 league appearances.
Brighton's Strategic Move
This acquisition is a strategic move by Brighton to bolster their attacking options with a young, dynamic forward who has already demonstrated his potential on both domestic and international stages. The signing reflects Brighton's commitment to nurturing young talent and competing at the highest levels of the Premier League.
