Stuart Findlay Reunites with Derek McInnes at Hearts on Season-Long Loan from Oxford United

Stuart Findlay joins Hearts on a season-long loan from Oxford United, reuniting with head coach Derek McInnes, who praises the defender's leadership and athleticism.

Stuart Findlay has officially joined Heart of Midlothian on a season-long loan from Oxford United, marking a reunion with head coach Derek McInnes. McInnes, who previously worked with Findlay at Kilmarnock, expressed his enthusiasm about bringing the "domineering defender" back into his squad.

A Proven Leader on the Pitch McInnes, speaking on Hearts' official website, highlighted Findlay's attributes: "Stuart is someone I know very well from our previous years together. He's a strong, athletic defender and a true leader both on and off the pitch." The 29-year-old centre-half, who has one cap for Scotland, is expected to bring stability and experience to Hearts' defense.

Journey Through Scottish Football Findlay began his career in Celtic's youth academy before embarking on loan spells at Greenock Morton, Dumbarton, and Kilmarnock. His move to Newcastle United in 2016 didn't yield first-team opportunities, leading him back to Kilmarnock on a permanent deal in 2018. After a stint with Philadelphia Union in 2021, Findlay joined Oxford United in 2022.

A Return to Familiar Ground Despite being a consistent presence in Oxford's lineup during his first season, Findlay returned to Scotland for another loan spell at Kilmarnock. Now, he follows McInnes to Tynecastle, where he aims to make a significant impact in the Scottish Premiership.

Future Prospects Oxford United confirmed that Findlay will leave the Championship club next summer when his contract expires. This move to Hearts could be a pivotal moment in his career, offering him the chance to showcase his skills in a competitive league.
