Jac Morgan Aims for Lions Test Spot: A Welsh Rugby Star's Journey

Welsh rugby star Jac Morgan is determined to secure a spot in the British and Irish Lions Test team, showcasing his skills and pride for Wales.

Jac Morgan's Determination to Shine

Flanker Jac Morgan is on a mission to make Wales proud as he eyes a coveted spot in the British and Irish Lions Test team. Despite missing out on selection in the first Test against Tom Curry, Morgan showed his mettle in the 24-19 victory against the First Nations Pasifika, playing 50 minutes before being substituted.

Support from Welsh Fans

Morgan, one of the few Welsh players in the 45-man squad, received a thunderous cheer from the thousands of Welsh fans at Marvel Stadium. The Ospreys captain expressed his gratitude, saying, "It's hard to put into words. I'm obviously chuffed and I'm trying to make everyone proud in a way. I've heard a couple of the cheers. It's great to have the support. There's a lot of Welsh out here."

Competitive Edge

Morgan is no stranger to fierce competition, especially for the number seven jersey. The 25-year-old has remained unfazed by the selection debates and headlines that followed the announcement of the first Test side. Curry, who excelled in the 27-19 win in Brisbane, remains a strong contender for the second Test in Melbourne.

Future Prospects

Lions head coach Andy Farrell confirmed that Irish lock Joe McCarthy has not trained this week due to a foot injury, casting doubt on his availability for the second Test. If McCarthy is ruled out, Morgan could be a potential addition to the Test squad, given his versatility and recent performances.

A Proud Moment

Reflecting on his journey, Morgan admitted that representing the Lions against the Wallabies would be a significant achievement. "It would be a massive honour and a very proud moment to be selected," he said.

Welcoming Steve Tandy

Morgan also welcomed the appointment of new Wales head coach Steve Tandy, who left his role as Scotland's defence coach to fill the vacancy created by Warren Gatland's departure. "It's great to be able to have a head coach now so we can look to the future," Morgan said. "I've spoken to a lot of the Scottish boys and they've all said he's a great coach, but more than that he's a good bloke as well."
