Fabian Hurzeler Confirms Carlos Baleba's Stay at Brighton Amid Transfer Speculations
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler expresses full confidence in Carlos Baleba's stay, amidst transfer speculations and a strong summer recruitment.

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has stated he is "100%" confident that midfielder Carlos Baleba will remain with the club this season. Despite interest from Manchester United, the Seagulls have firmly decided against selling the 21-year-old, who has become a pivotal player since his transfer from Lille in 2023.
Baleba has started both of Brighton's Premier League games this season and has made 80 appearances for the club. His consistent performance and potential have made him a valuable asset for the team. When questioned about Baleba's future, especially with the looming transfer deadline, Hurzeler was unequivocal: "If there is a number more than 100 [%], I would say more than 100, so fantastically confident."
This summer, Brighton has been active in the transfer market, securing six new players. Notable signings include:
- Maxim de Cuyper from Club Brugge for £17.5m
- Olivier Boscagli from PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer
- Diego Coppola from Hellas Verona for an undisclosed fee
- Tom Watson from Sunderland for £10m
- Yoon Do-young from Daejeon Hana Citizen
- Charalampos Kostoulas from Olympiakos for £29.8m
Hurzeler also hinted that Brighton might be done with their summer signings, expressing satisfaction with the current squad. "Sometimes it's not so clever to share the feelings you have with the public, but overall I'm very happy with the squad," he remarked.
As the transfer window nears its close, Brighton fans can rest assured that their key players, including Baleba, are set to continue contributing to the team's ambitions in the Premier League.
