The Sexual Assault Case of Hockey Canada
A judge in Ontario declared a mistrial on Friday in the sexual assault case involving five former members of Canada's world junior hockey team. These players, namely Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dube, and Callan Foote, have all pleaded not guilty to the charges. The trial began on Wednesday, but the prosecution's first witness only briefly took the stand before testimony was put on hold for legal arguments. The charges relate to an alleged sexual assault in a hotel room in Ontario in June 2018. None of the players is currently on an NHL roster or has an active contract with an NHL team.
