World number two Iga Swiatek began her quest for a second US Open title in style, securing a straight-set victory over Colombia's Emiliana Arango. The match, held at Arthur Ashe Stadium, saw Swiatek dominate with a 6-1, 6-2 win, highlighting her readiness for the tournament.

Swiatek, who recently claimed her first Wimbledon title, is the favorite to add another US Open trophy to her collection, following her 2022 triumph. "It felt great - first matches are not easy to get used to the rhythm and it was a solid match," Swiatek commented after the match. "I am happy that I wasn't trying to overpower and I was solid."
